FoH Unud Receives a Visit from Zhejiang Yuexiu University, China

Udayana University's Faculty of Humanities (FoH Unud) together with the Unud International Office (IO) received a visit from China's Zhejiang Yuexie University (ZYU) on Tuesday, May 21 2024.

The ZYU team consisting of the Vice President of ZYU, Professor Chen Wentao, the Dean of the School of Oriental Languages ZYU, Professor Qiu Ming, and the Head of the Indonesian Department of ZYU, Professor Wang Hui, was received by the Dean of FoH Unud, I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph. D., along with the IO Partnership and Internationalization Division, Dr. Irma Rahyuda, A.Par., M.M., M.Par., M.Rech, and Coordinator of the FoH Unud Information Management and Cooperation Unit, Novita Mulyana, S.S., M.Hum.

The visit was received in the IO Unud Meeting Room, Agrokompleks Building, 3rd Floor, Unud Sudirman Campus, Jalan P.B. Sudirman Denpasar.

Starting the meeting, IO's Partnership and Internationalization Division, Dr. Irma Rahyuda, welcomed the presence of the ZYU delegation and expressed her thanks for ZYU's visit to Unud. She expressed her hope at this meeting to increase and develop the existing good cooperation between ZYU and Unud.

Dean of FOH Unud, I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., explained that currently there are five ZYU students studying in the Indonesian Literature study program of FoH Unud. He hopes that the ongoing collaborative activities between the two parties will not be limited to student exchanges only and can expand to other activities such as lecturer exchanges and research collaboration activities.

In a tit for tat, the Vice Chancellor of ZYU, Professor Chen Wentao, is also very supportive if the two parties can exchange lecturers, one of which is the Indonesian Department. According to him, the number of Indonesian language teaching lecturers in the department is very low so if there are FoH Unud lecturers who are willing to teach directly at ZYU it will be very beneficial to improve the quality of teaching.

Not only that, Prof. Chen Wentao also hopes that Unud students will come and study at ZYU. He stated that ZYU has several very interesting superior programs such as digital commerce programs, Mandarin language programs for foreign speakers, summer camps, winter camps and others. Prof. Wentao also expressed his interest in research collaboration to improve research quality through international research.

The Dean of ZYU's School of Oriental Languages, Professor Qiu Ming, on this occasion expressed his hope that because currently FoH Unud and ZYU have implemented cooperation in the form of student exchanges for 2 semesters, both parties can develop a double degree program with a 2 scheme +2, 2 years studying at ZYU and 2 years studying at Unud then students can obtain two degrees from both institutions.

Responding to this, IO's Partnership and Internationalization Division, Dr. Irma Rahyuda, explained that currently Unud is trying to initiate this program, namely in one of the study programs at the Faculty of Tourism, because so far the double degrees available are limited to master's and doctoral programs.

"Currently, we at the Faculty of Tourism are proposing a double degree program to the Ministry, until now at Unud this program is still limited to master's and doctoral programs, not yet available at undergraduate level. "If approved, this study program at the Faculty of Tourism will become the first double degree program at undergraduate level at Unud and of course it could become a model for FoH Unud if it later implements a program similar to ZYU," explained Dr. Irma.

In the discussions held, both parties exchanged information about their programs in the fields of education and research. Both parties also agreed to send each other further information via electronic mail.

After holding the discussion, the ZYU delegation had the opportunity to meet five ZYU students who were studying in the Indonesian Literature study program FoH Unud.

To the students, ZYU Vice Chancellor, Professor Chen Wentao, advised students to always maintain their attitude, always help the people around them, study hard because currently these students not only carry their own names but are also representatives of ZYU and the People's Republic of China.

At the end of the meeting, Unud and ZYU had the opportunity to exchange souvenirs and take photos together. (nm)
