Ida Bagus Gede Manuaba, ST., MT., IPU from the Faculty of Engineering, and Prof. Dr. I Gusti Ayu Kartika, SH, MH from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences.

Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, ST, Ph.D., stated that the increasing number of Professors at Udayana University is believed to be able to support the quality of the higher education process taking place at Unud. He revealed that this inauguration can be an inspiration for other academics to immediately fight for their functional professor positions. To the six Professors who were inaugurated, he advised them to be able to carry out their duties as well as possible. He also congratulated them on this achievement, which is the highest functional position for lecturers who are still teaching in higher education units. The six Professors who were inaugurated are now part of the 246 Professors at Udayana University, with a total of 31 Professors at the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University.

The event continued with speeches delivered by the six inaugurated professors. Prof. I Nyoman Aryawibawa, SS, MA, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, was one of the Professors inaugurated at this event. He was inaugurated as a Professor with expertise or branch of science Psycholinguistics. In his speech, he delivered an oration entitled "Language: Universal or Relative?". The oration discussed whether language is universal or relative. More specifically, whether Balinese has the same causative construction as languages in the world. This study used a distributional-learning computational model to predict causative constructions in Balinese. This model has previously been used to study five other languages, English, Hebrew, Hindi, Japanese, and K'iche'. The results showed that the causative sentence construction in Balinese is similar to the five languages. This finding then raises the question: does this similarity affect the cognitive function of its speakers.

The research continued by delving into the spatial field in Rongga, Balinese, and Indonesian. This study involved three monolingual speakers of each language. Based on the research conducted by giving the subjects a linguistic task, namely object rotation, following what was done by Levinson (2003). Balinese and Rongga speakers responded in which the absolute system was used. Meanwhile, in Indonesian, the relative system was used. Similar results were obtained through the second linguistic task and a non-linguistic task. The conclusion of this study is that spatial systems differ in many languages, such as the use of absolute spatial systems in Balinese and Rongga, and the use of relative spatial systems in Indonesian and English. The results obtained from the non-linguistic task experiment indicate that the use of spatial systems affects the cognitive function of its speakers, which can be concluded that language is relative.

Closing his speech, Prof. I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph.D. also expressed his gratitude to his family and various parties who had contributed and provided support. The inauguration ceremony concluded with remarks from the Secretary of the Udayana University Professors Forum, Prof. Dr. drh. Nyoman Sadra Dharmawan, MS. He congratulated the newly inaugurated Professors. "This highest honorary title in the academic world is the fruit of dedication, commitment, long hard work, which of course cannot be separated from the support of his beloved family," he said in his speech. Not to forget, Prof. Dr. drh. Nyoman Sadra Dharmawan, M.S. invited the Professors to continue to work, innovate, and make real contributions through the three pillars of higher education: education, research, and community service. The Professors were also invited to continue to be active in providing input for the progress of Udayana University higher education, community development, and the good of the nation.
