Welcome to the Balinese Literature Study Program, Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University. As an educational institution focused on preserving national identity, we have been accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT).
Our Vision and Mission Our vision is to realize a study program that produces graduates who are excellent, independent, and culture-oriented. To achieve this, we provide high-quality education, research, and community service in the fields of Balinese language, script, and literature. We are committed to producing character-driven graduates with a competitive edge at local, national, and international levels.
Graduate Profile and Competencies Our graduates will earn a Bachelor of Arts (S.S.) degree. Students are prepared to become competent professionals as:
- Academicians
and Researchers: Experts in studying Balinese linguistics and literary
sciences.
- Translators:
Capable of translating Balinese texts into Indonesian and English.
- Manuscript
Conservators: Skilled in the techniques of preservation and care of
palm-leaf (lontar) manuscripts.
- Entrepreneurs
and Communicators: Possessing independence and professional
communication skills in the socio-cultural field.
In-depth Curriculum We implement a curriculum with a total workload of 144 credits covering linguistics, literature, and philology. Students will study unique and essential materials, ranging from the Balinese script spelling system and palm-leaf writing techniques to the appreciation of traditional literary works such as Geguritan, Kidung, and Kakawin. We also support the "Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka" (Emancipated Learning) program, allowing students to gain learning experiences outside their main study program.
Facilities and Learning Environment The learning process is supported by expert educators, including Doctors and Professors who are competent in their fields. We provide supporting facilities such as laboratories for palm-leaf writing practice and Balinese script computerization to ensure students are adaptive to modern technological developments.
