Indonesian Literature Study Program FoH Unud Invites UI Professors to Give Guest Lectures

On Thursday, June 27 2024, the Indonesian Literature Study Program, Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University held a Guest Lecture with the theme "Toponymy and its Relationship to the Linguistic Landscape".


In this guest lecture, the Indonesian Literature study program invited professors from the Department of Linguistics, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of Indonesia (UI), namely Prof. Dr. Multamia RMT Lauder, S.S., Mse., DEA. as a resource person. The guest lecture was moderated by Prof. Dr. Made Sri Satyawati, S.S., M.Hum, who is a professor at the Indonesian Literature Study Program FoH Unud.


The event opened with remarks from Dr. I Gusti A.A. Mas Triadnyani, S.S., M.Hum. as Coordinator of the Indonesian Literature Study Program.


The activity was attended by lecturers and students from the Indonesian Literature Study Program and was also open to all undergraduate, master's and doctoral students at FoH Unud.


In this Guest Lecture activity, Prof. Dr. Multamia discusses several topics such as language families based on genetic research, the Out of Africa theory as a possible trigger for the spread of language, the importance of understanding toponymy and anthroponymy, the scope of toponymy studies, linguistic and non-linguistic analysis of place names and cultural heritage, as well as toponymy which is a cultural artifact.


The Guest Lecture was continued with a Question and Answer Session, then closed by giving certificates to the speaker, moderator and the guest lecture participants. (sk)
