Perumda (Regional Public Company) Kerthi Bali Santhi Explored the Potential of Bali Lontar Transliteration Collaboration with FIB Unud
On Wednesday, March 13 2024, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Udayana (FIB Unud) received an audience from the Kerthi Bali Santhi Regional Public Company (Perumda KBS) at the Dean's room of FIB Unud, Nias Campus, Jalan Pulau Nias Number 13 Denpasar.
During the meeting, the Dean of FIB Unud, I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., was accompanied by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Planning, Dr. I Gede Oeinada, S.S., M.Hum., and also present were the Head of the Udayana University (ULU) Lontar Unit, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Cika, M.S., along with secretary Putu Eka Guna Yasa, S.S., M.Hum. who is also a lecturer in the Balinese Literature study program and one of the ULU staff, I Made Agus A. Hadi Sutresna, S.S.
From Perumda KBS, the meeting was attended by the Director of Business and Digital Development, Putu Agus Bayu Cahaya Dewata Emantakha who was accompanied by Public Relations, Cooperation and Village Community Empowerment staff, Ni Putu Ratna Dewi Gayatri.
At the audience, the Director of Business and Digital Development of Perumda KBS, Agus Bayu, stated that the purpose of his and his team's visit to FIB Unud was to explore the potential for cooperation with FIB Unud regarding the transliteration plan for Balinese palm leaves which would be carried out by Perumda KBS.
Agus explained that what Perumda KBS has the mission to ensure that Bali's cultural heritage remained sustainable and could be enjoyed by the next generation.
"We at Perumda are currently planning to transliterate Balinese lontar and providing a platform for digitizing and translating Balinese lontar which can display photos of lontar along with its contents in both Balinese and Indonesian. The goal is that Bali's cultural heritage remains sustainable and can be enjoyed and studied by future generations. "Of course we cannot do this alone, we need the cooperation of various stakeholders, especially FIB Unud, which has experts in this field, in implementing this activity," explained Agus Bayu.
The Dean of FIB Unud, Aryawibawa, Ph.D., welcomed the offer of cooperation. He felt that this collaboration was appropriate between Perumda and the Udayana University Lontar Unit (ULU), considering that ULU is a special unit belonging to Udayana University which studies Balinese lontar, including digitizing it.
At the end of the meeting, FIB Unud, ULU and Perumda KBS agreed to discuss again the technical implementation of cooperation related to the transliteration of Balinese lontar through future follow-up meetings. (nm)
