Bachelor of Balinese Literature Udayana University conducted Field Assessment for BAN-PT Accreditation

DENPASAR – The Bachelor of Balinese Literature Faculty of Humanities , Udayana University carried out a field assessment as part of the accreditation process. The three-days activities were held from 22 up to 24 January 2026. It took place at the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University in Denpasar. The field assessment involved assessors from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education, namely Prof. Dr. Hesti Sadtyadi and Prof. Drs. I Ketut Subagiasta, M.Si., D.Phil. and accompanied by Ahmad Nur Rohman as a companion from BAN-PT.


The series of activities began on Thursday, January 22, 2026 with inspection of facilities and infrastructure. One crucial point of inspection was the Laboratory of the Bachelor of Balinese Literature at the Lontar Unit of Udayana University. The laboratory functions as a center for academic competencies of students and lecturers, including lontar (palm-leaf manuscript) reading, conservation, digitization, manuscript writing, and computerization of Balinese manuscript. In addition, the laboratory supports practices of manuscript transcription and translation as an effort to preserve old manuscripts.


The official opening of the assessment took place on Friday (January 23) at the Soekarno Room, Poerbatjaraka Building. The event was directly attended by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Nengah Sujaya, M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D. The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Prof. I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., in his remarks highlighted the distinctive nature of Udayana’s Bachelor of Balinese Literature. According to him, this study program is the only regional Balinese literature program that focuses purely on scientific studies, rather than teacher training as found in other institutions. “The Bachelor of Balinese Literature is expected to become the front guard in documenting and preserving the Balinese language, script, and literature. This assessment aims to ensure that the quality of Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education: education, research, and community service) meets national standards,” stated Prof. Aryawibawa.


Vice Rector I reaffirmed the university’s commitment to continuously improving institutional governance quality. He hoped that feedback from the assessors would serve as strategic evaluation material for the program’s future development. Representing the assessors, Prof. Hesti Sadtyadi welcomed the university’s openness and expressed hope that the data verification process would provide a real picture of the program’s condition. Meanwhile, Prof. I Ketut Subagiasta emphasized the important role of the Bachelor of Balinese Literature in maintaining cultural identity among younger generations so the Balinese language remains preserved.


The assessment process covered verification of nine accreditation criteria, ranging from vision and mission, governance, student affairs, human resources, to outputs of Tri Dharma. Apart from verifying documents and facilities, discussion sessions were also conducted with lecturers, administrative staff, active students, alumni, and graduate users in a hybrid format (both onsite and online). Through this assessment, the Bachelor of Balinese Literature is expected to strengthen its role as the front guard in preserving the cultural identity of Bali.
