Faculty of Humanities Udayana University Bids Farewell to 33 International Students at the BIPAS Spring 2026 Certification Ceremony
Denpasar, June 11, 2026 – The Bali International Program on Asian Studies (BIPAS) of Udayana University held the Certification Ceremony for the Spring Semester 2026 The farewell event took place at the Widya Sabha Mandala Auditorium, 3rd Floor of the Ida Bagus Mantra Building, Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University. The event was attended by the Deans officials, representatives of the Udayana University International Affairs Office (KUI Unud), and representatives from Asia Exchange.
Commencing the event, I Made Sena Darmasetiyawan, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D., as the coordinator of BIPAS reported that the spring semester program, which ran in a hybrid format at the Jimbaran campus from February 23 to June 11, 2026, successfully facilitated 33 international students from 10 countries: Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Vietnam, Tunisia, Switzerland, and India. Over the course of one semester, the students completed various elective courses and actively participated in a series of cultural introduction activities, ranging from traditional attire and bargaining workshops, a historical excursion to Kerta Gosa, to learning the Balinese script. The successful implementation of this program is inseparable from the close collaboration between Faculty of Humanities Udayana University, Coordinator of International Office (KUI) Udayana University, Asia Exchange, as well as the high dedication of the lecturers and the strong discipline of the students.
Proceeding with the agenda, the Vice Dean I Faculty of Humanities Udayana University, Dr. I Gede Oeinada, S.S., M.Hum., officially welcomed and expressed his appreciation to the 33 international students and all the invited guests in attendance. He expressed his high hopes that the understanding gained regarding Asian regional studies, along with all the cultural exchange experiences during their time in Bali, would provide meaningful benefits for the students' futures. Furthermore, he extended his deep gratitude for the trust the students placed in choosing Udayana University as their educational institution and becoming part of the campus's academic community.
The event continued with the screening of the BIPAS Farewell Video. The broadcast featured a compilation of the students' academic journeys and cultural explorations, starting from the Opening Ceremony and Orientation Day, practice in wearing Balinese traditional attire, practice in writing Balinese script on lontar (palm leaves), an introduction to the Kerta Gosa historical site which included practicing the gamelan, Kamasan wayang painting, and Balinese dance. Additionally, the farewell video also included a collection of messages from the academic community. Among them was a special message from the Dean of FIB Unud, Prof. I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., along with a summary of gratitude and appreciation from the BIPAS teaching lecturers.
Entering the main agenda, the event proceeded with the Graduation Procession. The atmosphere in the Widya Sabha Auditorium turned solemn as the students, donning Balinese traditional attire, were called to the stage one by one to receive their graduation certificates as the official sign of the completion of their study period. The certificate handover procession was conducted directly by the Vice Dean I Faculty of Humanities Udayana University accompanied by representatives from KUI Udayana University, Asia Exchange, and the BIPAS Coordinator.
As a marker of the end of the academic supervision period by the campus, the event continued with the handover of responsibility of the students from Udayana University back to Asia Exchange. Following this procession and simultaneously concluding the series of events, Hannes Borgwardt, as the Chief Operating Officer of Asia Exchange, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all parties who had synergized to make the BIPAS Spring Programme 2026 a success. He expressed his great hope that all the knowledge and moments of togetherness experienced by the students during the program in Bali would leave a profound impression and become beautiful memories brought back to their home countries.


UDAYANA UNIVERSITY
