Improving Students' Skills, Bachelor of English Literature Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University Held Guest Lecture on Handling Complaints in the Hospitality Industry

DENPASAR – The Bachelor of English Literature Study Program of the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University successfully organized a practical guest lecture for the English for Hospitality course on Monday, June 8, 2026. This academic event addressed a highly critical topic in the tourism sector: “Handling Complain in Hospitality Industry”.

The Coordinator of the Bachelor of English Literature Study Program, Dr. I Gusti Ngurah Parthama, S.S., M.Hum. delivered his welcoming remarks, expressing his deep appreciation to the speaker for her willingness to share her expertise. He explained that this guest lecture aimed to provide students with a realistic overview of communication dynamics within the hospitality industry while equipping them with ready-to-use practical skills to face the professional world.

To provide profound industrial insights, the study program invited Ni Putu Yuni Ardianti Pratiwi, S.S., the Acting Resort Manager of Hotel Ramayana Suites and Resort, Bali.

During her presentation, the speaker comprehensively explained various English expressions commonly utilized when facing hotel guest complaints. To give the students a realistic picture, the lecture was enriched with real-world examples of complaints that most frequently occur in the hospitality sector.

The guest lecture was designed to be highly interactive, giving the students a valuable opportunity to engage directly through several activities in which students actively practiced communication and problem-solving skills through hands-on role-playing based on common hotel complaint scenarios. The speaker shared her firsthand experiences regarding the inner workings of the hotel industry, spanning effective communication with guests, interaction with peers, and understanding the hotel's managerial system.

"Effective communication and a solid understanding of the managerial system are the primary keys to professionally defusing and resolving guest complaints in the hospitality industry," stated Ni Putu Yuni Ardianti Pratiwi during her session.
