The Closing of 2026 Faculty of Humanities' PKKMB: The Culmination of Mahadayana's Exploration and Solidarity
Denpasar, August 7, 2026 - The journey of the 2026 Mahadayana (Udayana Faculty of Humanities Students) continued through the second day of the 2026 Faculty of Humanities’ PKKMB (Introduction to Campus Life for New Students of the Faculty of Humanities). The second day, which also served as the closing of the orientation, focused on affirming the identity and solidarity of the Mahadayana; encompassing a physical introduction to the Faculty of Humanities, Nias campus, mapping the direction of student interests and talents, and culminating in an official inauguration. The event took place in the Faculty of Humanities Nias campus area and attended by all 2026 Mahadayana.
Initiating the second day's series, the 2026 Mahadayana were invited to delve into the historical roots and comprehensive facilities through physical exploration in the Faculty of Humanities, Nias campus environment. During the campus tour, students were introduced to a row of iconic buildings that form the faculty's lifeline; including the Dr. R. Goris Building as the center for undergraduate lectures, the Prof. Dr. I Gusti Ngurah Bagus Building, which houses the Lontar Udayana Unit (ULU), and the Prof. Dr. R.M. Ng. Poerbatjaraka Building as the postgraduate center as well as the secretariat for student organizations. This exploration culminated at the Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra Building, which operates as the center for academic administration, complete with the Widya Sabha Mandala Auditorium as the epicenter of faculty activities, along with other supporting facilities such as the canteen and parking area.
After getting a closer look at the infrastructure and the academic breath of the campus, the focus of the 2026 Mahadayana was then directed toward non-academic activities through an introductory session on Student Activity Units (UKM). This session was presented as a compass for new students to map out their interests and talents during their studies.
The agenda continued with a presentation of the nine SMFIB work programs. The programs introduced included the Faculty of Humanities’ Student Sports Week (POM) as an inter-study program sports competition as well as the Faculty of Humanities’ Jegeg Bagus to recruit student representations within the university environment. As a manifestation of community service, the Bakti Tri Hita Karana program and the Berfijar teaching program targeting underserved schools were also presented. Furthermore, there is Cultural Reincarnation (Reinkarnasi Budaya) focusing on the preservation of traditions through student competitions, merchandise procurement initiatives via Humanities Apparel, and the Food Frolic Festive as a platform for showcasing talent and fundraising. This introductory series concluded with a presentation on the agenda for student participation in the Unud Porseni Dies Natalis and the peak celebration of the faculty's anniversary through the Faculty of Humanities’ Family Organization (BKFIB).
The introduction to non-academic elements was then lightened by a break session, where the committee screened interactive videos from groups 6-10 as a form of appreciation for the Mahadayana's creativity. Moving on from the previous agenda, the Mahadayana's attention was drawn back to a material presentation on the dynamics of student organizations. The session, guided by moderator Gabariella Maulosi Ambarita, featured I Nyoman Trikasudha Gamayana, S.S., former Chairperson of the 2025 SMFIB, as the speaker. Through his presentation, he comprehensively dissected the essence and benefits of being in an organization, which includes the development of soft skills, time management abilities, and expanding alumni networks. Furthermore, the speaker provided a critical review of seniority, convoluted thinking, and the execution of programs that are merely ceremonial with minimal movement. As a proposed solution, students were encouraged to actualize a form of "progressive organization" described as possessing a collective nature, being structural yet flexible, open to criticism, and brave enough to take a dominant role as a platform for advocating various social issues within the campus environment and the nation.
After absorbing deep insights into organizational dynamics, the atmosphere of the event instantly became highly festive as it entered the yel-yel (cheer) performance session. Each group showed off their best cheers, which they had prepared with full enthusiasm and energy. The thunderous cheers and cohesiveness that echoed at the venue not only successfully roused the participants' spirits but also served as a tangible representation of the strong solidarity and togetherness that had been built among the new students within their respective groups.
Entering the peak series of the 2026 FIB PKKMB closing at the Widya Sabha Mandala Auditorium, the Project Officer of the 2026 Faculty of Humanities’ PKKMB, I Komang Dalem Arta Wiguna, presented his closing report. He affirmed that the event themed "Scholarly Steps Illuminate Civilization," held on August 6–7, 2026, had successfully served as a gateway to introduce the campus and its ecosystem to 460 new students and 16 continuing students. Concluding his report, appreciation was extended to the deanery ranks, accompanied by a philosophical message of paras-paros sarpanaya (mutual respect and togetherness), hoping that this spirit would always be the breath of the FIB Unud student movement in the future.
As the climax of the event and the marker of the end of the entire orientation period, a symbolic closing was carried out through the procession of removing the name tags of the new student representatives. This removal was performed directly by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Information, Dr. Ni Ketut Puji Astiti Laksmi, S.S., M.Si., accompanied by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Planning, Dr. I Gede Oeinada, S.S., M.Hum., the General Chair of the 2026 Faculty of Humanities’ PKKMB, Taufik Agus Purnomo, S.Pd., M.A., as well as representatives from the SMFIB and BPMFIB ranks. After the representative procession took place on stage, all 2026 Mahadayana simultaneously removed their respective name tags, an emotional moment that validated their transitional steps into becoming an integral part of the extended student family of the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University.
Following the official closing, the atmosphere inside the auditorium was immediately filled with the euphoria of celebration through the awarding of appreciation to the winning groups. Cheers of pride echoed as a form of tribute to the dedication, sportsmanship, and cohesiveness demonstrated by the new students. The second day's series was then perfected through the penguningan ceremony as the peak of the 2026 Mahadayana's togetherness, simultaneously affirming their readiness to synergize under one umbrella of the proud identity of the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University.
