Benchmarking and Collaboration Planning Between the English Literature Study Program Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya and the Bachelor of English Literature Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University
Bachelor of English Literature, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Udayana received English Literature Study Program of Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya in a visitation regarding an exploratory talk on collaboration and benchmarking. This visitation took place on Monday, June 8, 2026 at Nias Campus, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Udayana.
This visitation is intended to carry out a discussion on accreditation procedure and exploratory talk on collaboration. Accreditation is conducted to evaluate academic programs.
This discussion is based on past accreditation processing in the Faculty of Humanities in some programs such as English Literature, Indonesian Literature, and Japanese Literature. A lecturer of the English Literature program of Universitas Udayana, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Mulyawan, S.S., M.Hum. revealed that in the process of accreditation, everything has to be in accordance. This is further confirmed by Prof. Dr. Drs. I Made Rajeg, M.Hum who stated that what is uttered by lecturers and students have to be in agreement. This is because a check is done from the higher up all the way to students, and is done in two days. He suggested that documents in the university level are synchronized with the ones in the programs level.
The process of accreditation requires participation from students and alumni. All students participating should be proficient in English. Having alumni to participate in this assessment is a challenge in itself, as some programs have a bigger amount of alumni compared to the Bachelor of English Literature program. As the head of the program, Dr. I Gusti Ngurah Parthama, S.S., M.Hum stated that there was a change of pattern; thus, a survey has been delegated to the program. To reach a greater amount of alumni participation in the process, graduates have been informed to stay in contact via social media.
The discussion moved to the topic of other assessment criteria, such as library access and book availability based on the lesson plan. The benchmarking event is then continued on with a discussion on Bachelor of English Literature programs in both universities. The two study programs, despite the shared name, have different focuses. Bachelor of English Literature of Universitas Udayana places a great deal on Linguistics, meanwhile Bachelor of English Literature of Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya leans towards the literature aspect.
