Bridging the Futures: SMAN 3 Sidoarjo Explores the Faculty of Humanities of Udayana University
Denpasar, April 13, 2026 – The Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University, received a visit from SMAN 3 Sidoarjo. The Widya Sabha Mandala Auditorium hosted the visit, which attracted 143 participants, including 11th-grade students and their accompanying teachers. This activity holds a long-term goal of increasing the acceptance rate of SMAN 3 Sidoarjo graduates into state universities in the coming years through various selections, such as SNBP, SNBT, and the Independent selection.
The Vice Principal of Public Relations of SMAN 3 Sidoarjo, Dr. Sri Wulandari, S.Pd., M.Pd.I., in her opening remarks, expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to get to know the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University, more closely. An on-site visit is considered highly essential to complement information gathered from the internet, allowing students to observe firsthand the study programs, courses, and the direction of academic programs so they do not make the wrong choice in determining their future studies.
The visit was welcomed by Dr. I Gusti Agung Istri Aryani, S.S., M.Hum., the Coordinator of the Information and Cooperation Service Unit of Faculty of Humanities Udayana University, and Dr. Ni Ketut Widhiarcani Matradewi, S.S., M.Hum., the Coordinator of the Learning Development and Quality Assurance Unit of Faculty of Humanities Udayana University. Both delineated the history and uniqueness of the Faculty of Humanities Udayana University as the first faculty at Udayana University, which was originally a branch of Airlangga University at its inception. The explanation continued with an introduction to the facilities at the Nias and Jimbaran Campuses, the eight undergraduate study programs under the auspices of Faculty of Humanities Udayana University, as well as the promising career prospects for its graduates.
The presentation also highlighted the proud achievement of three study programs, such as English Literature, Japanese Literature, and Indonesian Literature which successfully obtained international accreditation from the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA), representing a commitment to globally standardized education quality. Concluding the presentation, various organizational platforms facilitated by Faculty of Humanities Udayana were explained, including the Student Legislative Council, the Student Executive Board, student associations in each study program, to a variety of academic and non-academic Student Activity Units.
The presentation session was followed by an enthusiastic discussion among the students of SMAN 3 Sidoarjo, particularly regarding strategies for the new student selection process. In response to a question about the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP), he advised students not to rely solely on their report card grades but to also submit certificates of achievement to enhance their competitiveness. Regarding questions about special admission pathways for student organization leaders, such as the Student Council President, the faculty emphasized that all regulations governing new student admissions fall entirely under the authority of the Rector’s Office. Therefore, students were advised to regularly monitor updates through the official University of Udayana Admissions website.
In the closing session, the event continued with a ceremony in which both parties exchanged souvenirs as a symbol of the strong bond between SMAN 3 Sidoarjo and the Faculty of Letters at Udayana University. This moment of togetherness was then captured in a group photo. Afterward, the students were invited to take a tour of the campus. During this session, participants were not only introduced to various academic facilities and lecture halls but also had the opportunity to visit the Udayana Lontar Unit. The visit to this conservation unit provided an educational experience for the students to witness firsthand the process of conserving ancient manuscripts, which simultaneously represents the Faculty of Humanities’ commitment to preserving and studying the cultural heritage of the Indonesian archipelago.
