Cakrawala Theater 2025 Successfully Captivates Audiences in Cakrawala Mengudara Performance entitled “Janger Merah”

Denpasar, September 27, 2025 – Cakrawala Theater, Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University, successfully held its annual performance entitled “Cakrawala Mengudara 2025” with the theme “Samsara: Meracik Rasa, Merajut Asa”. This event has become one of the most anticipated art activities by the Faculty of Humanities’ students of Udayana University every year. This year's performance successfully created a lively atmosphere and received positive responses from the audience. This activity also becomes part of the efforts of the Faculty of Humanities at Udayana University to strengthen the existence of theatre arts in the academic environment. This annual performance enriches cultural activities that support the reputation of Udayana University as a campus that performs well in the arts and humanities.


The Head of the committee Ni Putu Kika Diah Stefhani Dewi, in her report emphasized that this performance was the result of the hard work of students who wanted to present a high-quality theatrical work while maintaining the annual tradition of Teater Cakrawala. She also said that this activity was expected to become a forum for student creativity and artistic expression. In addition, this performance is expected to strengthen the identity of performing arts on campus. Through this activity, students learn about production management, artistic skills, and good teamwork. This is in line with the vision of the Faculty of Humanities at Udayana University to develop students' potential in the fields of culture and performing arts.


The Head of Cakrawala Theater, Syifa Alif Kaesarin, briefly introduced Cakrawala Theater. In her speech, she said that Cakrawala Theater is supported by the Bachelor of Indonesian Literature and the Indonesian Literature Student Association. Her hope is that this community will continue to be committed to producing a young generation that is active in the arts. With Cakrawala Theater, students can channel their interests and talents in the field of theater professionally. This community has become an inspiring learning space for Faculty of Humanities students who want to explore the world of theater and literature.


The event was then officially opened by the Advisor of Cakrawala Theater, Jalu Norva Illa Putra, S.S., M.A.. In his speech, he expressed his deepest appreciation to the entire committee and production team who had worked hard to make the event a success. He also expressed his hope that this annual performance would continue to be held and become a valuable learning opportunity for students. The presence of the supervising lecturer provided additional encouragement for the members of Teater Cakrawala to continue their work. This opening ceremony marked the commitment of the Faculty of Humanities at Udayana University to support student activities based on art and culture. The full support from the supervising lecturer demonstrated the positive synergy between the academic community and students in the development of campus theater arts.


After the opening, the main performance entitled “Janger Merah” by Ibed S. Yuga, directed by Bestari, was performed with great passion by nine characters. The play captivated the audience with its strong Balinese storyline, the actors' profound performances, and the artistic design that supported the atmosphere. The performance of “Janger Merah” became the main highlight because it told a story that was close to the local culture. The presence of hundreds of audience members proved that campus theater still has a special place in the hearts of the community. This story depicts the values of Balinese society, which are full of moral messages and social reflections. The strong cultural elements made this performance relevant to Udayana University's vision of preserving regional culture.

Then, the event continued with a discussion session and the sharing of impressions and messages. In this session, the director explained the many obstacles encountered during the preparation process, but with the cooperation and support of all parties, the Cakrawala Mengudara performance finally ran smoothly. The audience also gave positive impressions during the performance, from the characters, expressions, pronunciation, to the artistic impression. Of course, it also became a moment of reflection for the cast to continue to improve the quality of the next performance. This activity reinforces the role of theater as a learning media and appreciating art within the campus environment. The successful staging of Cakrawala Mengudara 2025 demonstrates Teater Cakrawala's consistency as a platform for student creativity in presenting theater works rich in meaning.
