Collaborating with Tilburg University, the Indonesian Literature and Japanese Literature Study Program FoH Unud Holds a Guest Lecture

The Indonesian Literature and Japanese Literature study program, Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University (FoH Unud) held a guest lecture by inviting researcher from Tilburg University in the Netherlands as resource person. The guest lecture activity was held on Wednesday, June 12 2024 at the Soekarno Room FoH Unud, Jalan Pulau Nias Number 13 Denpasar and was attended by lecturers and students of the Indonesian Literature and Japanese Literature study programs at FoH Unud.

 

The implementation of this guest lecture activity is a form of implementation between the Indonesian Literature and Japanese Literature study programs at FoH Unud and the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences, Tilburg University, Netherlands. These two FoH Unud study programs are involved in research collaboration with Tilburg University in a project entitled Emergence of Language in Social Interaction (ELISA) which has been implemented since 2020.

 

This year, apart from carrying out research, the two study programs and Tilburg University agreed to hold guest lectures to provide knowledge to students regarding conducting field research, especially in sign language research.

 

In the guest lecture held, two resource persons gave lectures to the students. The first resource person was Ni Putu Luhur Wedayanti, S.S., M.Hum. which presented material entitled Contextual Metaphor in Kata Kolok. Luhur Wedayanti, M. Hum. is a lecturer from the Japanese Literature study program FIB Unud.

 

Another resource person is Dr. Hannah Lutzenberger, researcher from Tilburg University in the Netherlands. In her presentation, Dr. Hannah explained lexical variations across signers in Bengkala Singaraja Village. The material she presented was related to the research she carried out in the ELISA project.

 

The presentations from the two speakers succeeded in arousing the curiosity of lecturers and students of the Japanese Literature and Indonesian Literature study programs regarding the use of sign language in Bengkala Singaraja village.

 

At the end of the lecture, the Coordinator of the Indonesian Literature Study Program FIB Unud, Dr. I Gusti Ayu Agung Mas Triadnyani, S.S., M.Hum handed over certificates of appreciation to the two resource persons as a form of appreciation for the material that had been delivered to students. (nm)
