Dean of FIB Unud Received British Council EnglishScore Audience

The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Udayana (FIB Unud) received an audience from the British Council EnglishScore on Friday, March 22 2024 online via the Webex Meeting application.

During the meeting, the Dean of FIB, I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., was accompanied by the Deputy Dean for Planning and Academic Affairs, Dr. I Gede Oeinada, S.S., M.Hum., Coordinator of the FIB Unud Information Management and Cooperation Unit, Novita Mulyana, S.S., M.Hum. and the Head of Language Service Unit, Prof. Drs. I Nyoman Udayana, M.Litt, Ph.D.

From the British Council, the meeting was attended by Michelle Victoria, Sales Manager of the British Council Indonesia and Stephen Antonio, University Partnership Manager.

The British Council is an institution that organizes English language evaluations or tests such as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and international certification based in London, England.

Michelle Victoria, as the representative of the British Council Indonesia, explained the purpose of the audience she held at FIB Unud, is to explore the potential for collaboration with FIB Unud in organizing English language skills tests for students through their Approved Partner program.

 

In the meeting which lasted approximately one hour, Michelle Victoria gave an explanation regarding the programs and products they have, especially EnglishScore as well as the benefits of the partnership if FIB Unud collaborates with the British Council Indonesia.

EnglishScore is an administering English language exams carried out via mobile phones equipped with AI (artificial intelligence) technology and various security features to ensure the validity of the test results.

The Dean of FIB Unud, I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., responded positively to the offer of cooperation submitted by the British Council Indonesia, only that he explained that the implementation of the English language test for students at Universitas Udayana is under Language Service Unit.

"The administration of English language tests at Unud is currently managed by the Unud Language Service Unit which is coordinated by Prof. Udayana. "Nevertheless, we still want to hear the details of the cooperation offered to us and we also invited Prof. Udayana to this meeting, to listen together with the offer from the British Council," explained Aryawibawa, Ph.D.

Head of Unud's Language Service Unit, Prof. Nyoman Udayana, after hearing the presentation from the British Council, stated that he would further review the cooperation offered and report it to university board.

At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed to carry out further communication and coordination to discuss the potential for cooperation between the two parties in more depth. (nm)
