Enhancing Global Competency, Japanese Literature of Unud and Kwansei Gakuin University Hold Joint Presentation
DENPASAR – To strengthen academic competency and cross-cultural communication skills, the Japanese Literature Study Program of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Udayana University (Unud), in collaboration with Kwansei Gakuin University, Japan, held a Joint Presentation on Friday (16/10/2026). Taking place in the Ir. Soekarno Room, Poerbatjaraka Building, FIB Unud, this event served as an important platform for students to expand their knowledge and international networks.
This academic collaboration involved a total of 68 students, consisting of 51 Japanese Literature students from Unud and 17 students from Kwansei Gakuin University. The participants were divided into 17 multicultural collaborative groups, with each group comprising three Unud students and one Kwansei Gakuin student. This composition was specifically designed to allow intensive interaction among participants, from the discussion process and material preparation to the joint presentation stage.
The presentation topics raised during the event were highly diverse, covering cultural issues, student life dynamics, language, tourism, and relevant social phenomena in Indonesian and Japanese society. Using Japanese as the main language of instruction, students were required to demonstrate critical thinking and teamwork skills. Active interaction through role division, and inter-member discussions colored the course of the event.
This program aimed not only to hone international-standard academic presentation skills but also to train students' communication fluency directly with speakers from different cultural backgrounds. Various differences in cultural perspectives that emerged during the discussions became valuable learning materials that enriched the communication practice experience of all participants.
The Event Coordinator, Ni Putu Luhur Wedayanti, reported that overall, the event ran smoothly, successfully, and on schedule. The high enthusiasm of the participants was evident from their active participation throughout the presentation. As evaluation material for future events, the organizers recommended adding group discussion time, increasing the frequency of collaborative meetings, and utilizing more creative and interactive presentation media.
It is hoped that the academic collaboration well-established between Udayana University and Kwansei Gakuin University can continue to be developed through various other programs. This step is considered strategic in supporting the improvement of education quality, graduate competency, and the acceleration of internationalization in both institutions.
