Faculty of Humanities Udayana University Held Graduate Learning Outcomes Workshop Amidst Accreditation Preparation

The Learning Development and Quality Assurance Unit of the Faculty of Humanities of Universitas Udayana had held a workshop titled Workshop Capaian Pembelajaran on July 1, 2026 in Soekarno Room, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Udayana through a hybrid method. This workshop was attended by the Vice Dean I of the faculty, workshop speaker Prof. Dr. dra. Maman Suryaman, M.Pd., head of the Quality Assurance and the UP3M team, head of UPIKS and the media team, internal assistants, curriculum team of the bachelor, masters, and doctorate degree, TPPM of the bachelor, masters, and doctorate degree, as well as the accreditation task force of English Literature program, Japanese Literature program, and the Linguistics doctorate program.

The workshop was commenced by an opening speech from Dr. I Gede Oeinada, S.S., M.Hum as the Vice Dean I. He addressed the speaker and expressed his appreciation for speaking in the workshop. In his speech, he mentioned the strategic presence of the workshop, considering the upcoming accreditation of some programs, such as the English Literature program, Japanese Literature program, and the Linguistics doctorate program. He also welcomed alumni present to give counsel, so that the workshop could be optimal and effective in regards to competencies needed in the professional world. Appreciation was due to the UP3M team and the committee that prepared this workshop.

This workshop was guided by Dr. Ni Ketut Widhiarcani Matradewi, S.S., M.Hum as the moderator and the head of the UP3M  who also welcomed the attending guests and speaker. Prof. Dr. dra. Maman Suryaman, M.Pd. started his talk by discussing literacy importance. To him, there was an improvement in literacy in Indonesia. Literacy is an important matter, as top-ranked universities are commonly found in countries with high reading level. Hence, in designing a curriculum, it is important to note to design one where students are encouraged to read. In regard to this matter, the speaker addressed the need to build human literacy, which may be developed through critical thinking. This skill may be included in several Graduate Learning Outcomes, such as leadership, teamwork, and social entrepreneurship.

Prior to a talk regarding curriculum and Graduate Learning Outcomes, the speaker touched on academic vision. According to him, academic vision of a program may present a direction to the development of a program. This vision is different from institutional vision, in which the former is specialized towards a single academic field. Moving on to a talk on curriculum, the speaker stated that the steps of curriculum document preparation starts from necessity analysis, which is related to how society considers significant things in education. The next part to be concerned with is the study of science, technology, and arts.

Through these aspects a graduate profile may be born. In arranging graduate profiles, a further investigation on the job types of the alumni are needed. The speaker stated that grouping the jobs based on suitability is not enough to arrange the data. Graduate profiles are then developed into the formulation of graduate learning outcomes. Following the formulation, the formation of courses should be of concern. The speaker stated some things on this topic, such as selection of study materials and learning materials, establishment of courses, and establishment of the number of credits.

The discussions ended the workshop, welcomed with enthusiasm by the guests and the speaker. In closing the workshop, the speaker stated that graduate profiles should be in line with the number of related courses and the respective credits. The graduate learning outcomes and the courses should be proportional. In this session, an alumna of the Indonesian Literature program expressed her impression. According to her, the courses in the program are beneficial for her job as an Indonesian Language teacher. In addition, she also mentioned that there is something that was not deeply learned during the course of her studies, such as lesson plan. This, however, is excused as the program itself is titled literature instead of education.
