Faculty of Humanities Udayana University held Yuva Pradipa Nusantara National Seminar in the commemoration of the 44th Faculty of Humanities Anniversary
The Faculty of Humanities at Udayana University held a National Seminar as a commemoration of the 44th Family Organization, Faculty of Humanities on Friday, September 19, 2025, in the Nusantara Room, Agrokompleks Building, Sudirman Campus. The theme of this seminar was Yuva Pradipa Nusantara: Youth as the Light of Cultural Preservation. This event becomes an important part of the Faculty of Humanities Family Organization celebration as well as a forum for strengthening the role of students, lecturers, and academics in preserving the nation's cultural values so that they remain relevant in the midst of the times. The presence of speakers from various disciplines further strengthened the quality of the seminar as a constructive scientific forum.
The event began with a speech by the Chairman of the Committee of Family Organization, Faculty of Humanities , I Putu Gede Lion Ojasvin Putra Barata, who emphasized the significance of BK as a celebration of the anniversary of FIB UNUD involving all elements of the campus. The next speech was delivered by Rafael Valendiaz Nathaniel as the Coordinator of the Student Senate Network and Communication Division, who invited the entire academic community to actively participate. The closing remarks and official opening of the event were delivered by the Vice Dean II, Prof. Dr. Dra. Ni Ketut Ratna Erawati, M.Hum., who emphasized the importance of this national seminar as an implementation of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education) and a tangible contribution to cultural preservation. Thus, this seminar is expected to foster a spirit of collaboration in developing the nation's culture.
The session first presented Dr. Ida Bagus Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra, S.E., M.Si. with the topic “Creative Youth, Initiators of Cultural Capital Advancing Civilization.” He emphasized that culture is a patterned process that includes values, norms, arts, customs, language, and beliefs as the identity of a nation. According to him, in order for culture not to be lost in the tide of globalization, reinterpretation, reintegration, and adaptation are necessary. He also underlined the importance of culture as a collective capital that is not only of material value but also preserves the identity of society, as reflected in Balinese culture with its spirit of taksu, jengah, and openness. In this way, culture is not only preserved but also developed to remain relevant to the challenges of the times.
The next speaker, Dr. Anak Agung Gede Agung Rahma Putra, S.Sn., M.Sn., presented the topic “Sinar Budaya” (Ray of Culture). He emphasized the role of young people as beacons in preserving ancestral culture so that it continues to flourish in the future. He introduced nine rays of culture, namely sastradala (language, literature, script), langgodala (fine arts, performing arts), widyadala (traditional technological knowledge), artadala (traditional markets and cuisine), mandaladala (spatial planning and architecture), usadhadala (traditional medicine), bhumidala (agriculture), gamadala (religion), and prajadala (traditional management or organization). According to him, awareness of cultural origins becomes the key to preservation, and the younger generation becomes the forefront of this effort. The seminar closed with a call to continue to preserve culture as the light of the nation's civilization.
