Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University Signs Cooperation Agreement with PR BSK BRIN on Research and Development of Big Data Models and Web-Based Language Corpus Applications

On Friday, October 3, 2025, a cooperation agreement signing ceremony was held between the Center for Language, Literature, and Community Research, the Archaeology, Language, and Literature Research Organization, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University, on research and development of a large data model and web-based language corpus application (Indonesian corpora) Based on the Web. This activity was conducted online via Zoom meeting attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University, Prof. I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., Head of the Archaeology, Language, and Literature Research Organization, Dr. Herry Yogaswara, Head of the Center for Language, Literature, and Community Research, Ade Mulyanah, M.Hum. By signing this cooperation agreement, it is expected that the Center for Language and Community Research, the Archaeology, Language and Literature Research Organization, BRIN, and the Faculty of Humanities can strengthen collaboration in Linguistics research and the development of big data-based digital technology.


 

The activity began with the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, followed by a speech from the Head of the Archaeology, Language, and Literature Research Organization, Dr. Herry Yogaswara who opened the event. He expressed his hope that this collaboration would continue because the corpus must always be fulfilled with data acquisition from research and can build other research activities related to language. Next, there was a speech from the Head of the Center for Language, Literature, and Community Research, Ade Mulyanah, M.Hum., who expressed her hope that this collaboration would open up new insights, serve as a strategic foundation for advancing Indonesian language and literature research, and generate new collaborators. Finally, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Udayana University, Prof. I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., expressed his gratitude to BRIN for collaborating with the Faculty of Humanities. This is an opportunity for the Faculty of Humanities to accelerate and gain valuable experience from joint projects.


 

Signing of a cooperation agreement between the Center for Language, Literature, and Community Research, the Archaeology, Language, and Literature Research Organization, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University on research and development of a web-based big data model and language corpus application (Indonesian corpora) was signed directly by the Head of the Center for Language, Literature, and Community Research, Ade Mulyanah, M.Hum., accompanied by the BHKS team at the BRIN office, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Prof. I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., in Bali, and witnessed directly by the Head of the Archaeology, Language, and Literature Research Organization, Dr. Herry Yogaswara, who was in Japan at the time. This strategic collaboration becomes an important step to strengthen research collaboration between BRIN and the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University, particularly in the development of linguistic technology and the digitization of linguistic resources in Indonesia.

 

The presentation continued with an introduction to a web-based language corpus application (Indonesian corpora), delivered by Dr. Devi Ambarwati Puspitasari, M.Pd. This application was built and developed at the Center for Language, Literature, and Community Research with the aim of managing large amounts of data and increasing the level of utilization and scope of research. The language corpus application not only aims to provide structured big data based on research that can be used immediately, but also to gather research partners for collaboration. Thus, this application creates a digital research ecosystem that is expected to introduce diversity and uniqueness in linguistics, especially Indonesian. Through the use of this language corpus application, Udayana University and BRIN are committed to promoting the transformation of Indonesian language research towards a more open, innovative, and globally competitive digital era.
