The Faculty of Humanities Udayana Universitay welcomed Students of Kanto International Senior High School in the Cultural Visit Program

The Faculty of Humanities Udayana University held the Opening Ceremony of Cultural Visit Program from Kanto International Senior High School on August 3, 2026 in Widya Sabha Mandala Auditorium in the faculty. This ceremony welcomed three students from Kanto International Senior High School and their team.


This cultural visit program would allow students to learn the culture of Bali and Indonesia directly with their host families. In her speech, the Coordinator Bachelor of Indonesian Literature, Dr. I Gusti Ayu Agung Mas Triadnyani, S.S., M.Hum. stated that this program attempts to maintain international collaboration while also bringing Indonesian and Balinese culture to light to overseas partners. She also mentioned that cultural exchange has a major benefit in fostering friendship and mutual understanding and respect between Japanese and Indonesian youth. It is expected that students will be able to experience its academic atmosphere and hospitality, rather than relying solely on books and screens.


The event was continued with a speech by Yumiko Cecilia Horas, a Kanto International Senior High School representative. In her speech, she noted her promise to bring another batch of students through this program with the support from the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities. Kanto International Senior High School is a Japanese private high school that has offered an Indonesian Language major since 2007. Since its establishment, Kanto International Senior High School through this major held a field training program in Indonesia, specifically in Bali, where students can engage in various activities within and outside the Faculty of Humanities campus. One of the special features of this program is that students can live with families from Santo Yoseph High School to immerse themselves with Indonesian daily lives. She conveyed her thanks to Universitas Udayana as well as the host families accepting the incoming students for this program.


Prof. I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph.D. as the Dean of Faculty of Humanities conveyed his thanks for Ms. Yumiko Cecilia Horas, Kanto International Senior High School team and their students. He stated that the importance of this program is not only for the high school students but also for the Bachelor of Indonesian Literature. He mentioned that this study program is accredited internationally and has good human resources that allow students to join in this program, including their teachers. This program also gain collaboration visibility with Kanto International Senior High School.Students will learn Balinese and Indonesian cultures by living within their host families, and also studying Indonesian in the Faculty of Humanities. At the end of the activities, the cultural visit program was officially opened at the end of the speech. This opening ceremony was closed with an introduction session between each student and the matching host family and continued with  a campus tour around the faculty.
