Getting Closer to the Community, FIB Unud Holds a Whitewater Fishing Competition as a Series of Activities for the 67th FIB Anniversary and the 44th BKFIB Anniversary in 2025

On Sunday, September 14, 2025, the Faculty of Humanities at Udayana University held a Whitewater Fishing Competition as part of a series of events commemorating the 67th anniversary of the Faculty of Humanities (FIB) and the 44th anniversary of the Faculty of Humanities (BKFIB) in 2025. The competition was held in Kerta Jiwa Hamlet, Kesiman Kertalangu Village, with participants ranging from children to adults. The event was symbolically opened by the Vice Dean I of FIB Unud, Dr. I Gede Oeinada, S.S., M.Hum., with the release of catfish, accompanied by the Chairman of BKFIB 2025, the Chairman of the Fishing Competition Committee, and the Chairman of the FIB Student Senate. The goal of this activity was to strengthen the relationship between students and the community and to enhance the potential of Denpasar's waters.

The event began with the arrival and registration of participants, along with their placement along the competition spots. The event was then officially opened with remarks from the Vice Dean I of FIB Unud. In his remarks, he expressed his gratitude to all the committee members and the community who participated and enlivened this year's new series of events organized by the Faculty of Cultural Sciences. He hoped this event would provide an opportunity for the Faculty of Humanities and the local community to forge closer relationships. I Putu Gede Lion Ojasvin Putra Barata, Chair of the Fishing Competition Committee, echoed this sentiment.

The event continued with the reading of the competition rules, the release of catfish, and the competition began. Dozens of people, men and women, adults, teenagers, children, and fellow students participated in the competition to win the largest catfish, dubbed the "Master Fish," which measured as long as an adult man's calf. In addition to this fish, the community also competed for a normal-sized catfish tied with ribbons attached by the committee. The competition, which was divided into two sessions, proceeded smoothly and enthusiastically.

After the fishing sessions, a door prize drawing was held. A total of five residents won door prizes prepared by the committee. The event continued with the presentation of cash prizes and certificates to participants who successfully caught Master Fish. First place went to participant number 134 and a catch weighing 2.5 kg, while second place went to participant number 184 and a catch weighing 2 kg. The event concluded with a group photo of the winners, the committee, and the head of SMFIB Unud.
