Graduating 309 Students, Faculty of Humanities Yudisium Highlights Academic Excellence

The Faculty of Humanities at Udayana University officially graduated 309 students during the Graduation Ceremony for Prospective Graduates of the 177th and 178th periods. It was held on Thursday, August 20, 2026. This academic ceremony took place at the Widya Sabha Mandala Auditorium on the third floor of the Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra Building at the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University . It was attended by the dean’s team, the faculty senate, program coordinators, unit coordinators, faculty staff, and representatives of student organizations within the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University.

The graduation ceremony is an absolute prerequisite that marks the administrative and academic conclusion of students’ studies at the faculty. Through this ceremony, the 309 students were officially recognized as alumni of the Faculty of Humanities (FIB) at Udayana University and were then sent off to the university level. According to an academic report by Dr. I Gede Oeinada, S.S., M.Hum., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, the graduates of this commencement ceremony demonstrated excellent academic quality and study efficiency. At the Bachelor’s (S1) level—which constituted the majority of the group—the average Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) was 3.87, with an average study duration of 51 months. Meanwhile, graduates of the graduate programs (Master’s and Doctoral) also achieved impressive results, with average GPAs ranging from 3.80 to 3.93 and a duration of study between 30 and 49 months. In terms of student distribution, the Bachelor of English Literature dominated this graduation ceremony, contributing 103 prospective graduates, while the Bachelor of Old Javanese Literature graduated 10 students.

The details of the best prospective graduates were presented by the Vice Dean III for Student Affairs and Information, Dr. Ni Ketut Puji Astiti Laksmi, S.S., M.Si. The best prospective graduate for the 177th period from the Bachelor's program was awarded to Ni Kadek Febriyati Wulandari, S.S. from the Bachelor of English Literature. The best prospective graduate from the Master's program was awarded to Ni Putu Dian Angga Melani, S.S., M.Hum. from the Master of Linguistics, and the best prospective graduate from the Doctoral program was awarded to Dr. Asridayani, S.S., M.Hum. from the Doctor of Linguistics.

In the 178th commencement ceremony, Rafi Nazmi Ghifari, S.S., from the Bachelor of English Literature  as the best graduate from the undergraduate program; Ni Nyoman Tri Gitayani, S.S., M.Hum. from the Master’s in Linguistics program, and the top Doctoral graduate was Dr. Yana Qomariana, S.S., M.Ling., from the Doctoral program in Linguistics.

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of graduation sashes to all 309 graduates by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities  at Udayana University and the presentation of graduation certificates by the respective Program Coordinators. The emotional and proud atmosphere that filled the Widya Sabha Mandala Auditorium was further enlivened by an entertainment performance from the Faculty of Humanities Symphony Student Activity Unit (UKM).

After the ceremony of presenting neck garlands to all graduating students, Ni Kadek Febriyati Wulandari, S.S., who was selected as the valedictorian, delivered a reflective message about her time as a student. She emphasized that graduation is not a finish line, but rather a starting point that brings both uncertainty and new opportunities to continue learning. Speaking on behalf of her peers, she expressed deep appreciation to the academic community, educational staff, and families who have consistently provided support.

Concluding the series of events, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Udayana University, Prof. I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., emphasized that failure is the primary building block of success. Drawing inspiration from the journeys of world-renowned figures such as J.K. Rowling, Thomas Alva Edison, and soccer player Lionel Messi, the Dean reminded the graduates not to be afraid of facing rejection in the real world. Furthermore, he shared his personal experience of having his work rejected by an international journal during his doctoral studies—an experience that ultimately served as a stepping stone toward high-impact publications.

The end of this graduation ceremony also signals the beginning of a fresh start for the 309 graduates. Armed with their cultural knowledge and the degrees they now hold, the graduates are expected not only to be ready to face global challenges, but also to carve out a path to success and uphold the reputation of their institution in society.
