Group 23 Bina Desa 2026 Held an Opening Ceremony of Bina Desa Program in Taro Village, Tegallalang, Gianyar
Gianyar, April 10, 2026 — Group 23 Bina Desa, consisting of 15 members from the English Literature study program, Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University, officially held the opening ceremony as the start of the implementation of the Impactful Campus for the Village Development program activity. The event took place at the Wantilan of Pura Agung Gunung Raung and was attended by Dr. Galuh Febri Putra, M.A. as the Field Supervisor, I Wayan Warka as the Head of Taro Village, the Head of the Taro Tourism Village Management, the Bendesa Adat of Taro Kaja, the Klian Banjar Dinas throughout Taro Village, representatives from Bimas and Babinsa, the Head of the Community Empowerment Institution (LPM), the Head of the Village Consultative Body (BPD), a representative from Karang Taruna, the Director of the Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes), a representative from the community health center, as well as group members and event committee members.
The event began with a speech from Fransiska Oktafian as the Head of the Bina Desa Taro Group and also Village Coordinator. She expressed her gratitude to the village parties who had welcomed their presence in Taro Village warmly and had kindly attended the opening ceremony. She also explained that Bina Desa is one of the programs under Impactful Campus program which runs for approximately four months, so she hopes for the cooperation of village parties in its implementation.
Dr. Galuh Febri Putra, M.A. as the Field Supervisor also expressed his gratitude for the cooperation of the Taro Village parties. He explained that the focus of this Bina Desa activity is to increase the global recognition of Taro Village through the work programs that will be implemented later. According to him, besides Ubud, both local and international communities should also know that there is Taro Village as part of Gianyar. With its abundant of natural resources and human resources, Taro Village deserves more public attention.
The Head of Taro Village, I Wayan Warka, responded to the Field Supervisor's speech by stating that Taro Village is indeed the oldest village in Bali, historically inhabited by approximately 11,000 residents. Therefore, the social order, cultural customs, sacred temples, and existing tourist destinations have long been established. As the origin of the subak or irrigation tradition in Bali, Taro Village is also inhabited by a community where nearly 70 percent work as farmers. He hopes that the presence of students from Udayana University can help more people recognize Taro Village and can also provide an impact that remains useful and is felt by Taro Village even after this Taro Village Development program concludes after several months.
