Ida Bagus Gede Paramita officially received Doctoral degree in Cultural Studies

Ida Bagus Gede Paramita officially received his Doctoral degree in Cultural Studies after being declared and passed the open doctoral examination held at the Faculty of Humanities Universitas Udayana on Friday, 19 December 2025. The open examination marked the culmination of a long academic journey undertaken during his doctoral studies. This achievement represents a significant milestone in IBG Paramita’s academic and professional career in the field of cultural studies.

The Doctoral promotion session, which lasted approximately two hours, confirmed IBG Paramita as the 300th doctoral graduate since the Doctoral Program in Cultural Studies was established in 2001.The open doctoral examination was lead by the Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Cultural Studies, Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Darma Putra, M.Litt. The board of examiners consists of Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Suarka, M.Hum. (Promotor), Dr. Ida Bagus Gde Pujaastawa, M.A. (Co-Promotor I), Dr. Drs. I Wayan Suardiana, M.Hum. (Co-Promotor II), as well as the examiners Prof. Dr. Phil. I Ketut Ardhana, M.A.; Prof. Dr. I Gusti Putu Bagus Suka Arjawa, M.Si.; Dr. Ni Luh Sinar Ayu Ratna Dewi, S.S., M.Ag.; Dr. Ida Bagus Wika Krishna, M.Si.; Dr. Ida Ayu Laksmita Sari, S.Hum., M.Hum.; and Dr. Putu Titah Kawitri Resen, S.IP., M.A. Ida Bagus Gede Paramita result of achievement is very satisfactory based on the evaluation of the examining committee. This accomplishment also reflects the consistent academic quality of the Cultural Studies Doctoral Program at the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University to produce an outstanding graduates.

During the open examination, Dr. IBG Paramita successfully defended his dissertation entitled “The Contestation of Symbolic Power between Ulu Desa and Prajuru Desa Adat in Pedawa and Julah Villages, North Bali.” The dissertation provides an in-depth and contextual analysis of the dynamics of symbolic power within the social structure of traditional villages in North Bali. The study is expected to contribute academically to the development of cultural studies and serve as a reference for understanding power relations within Balinese traditional communities.
