Kuta, July 2, 2026 – Embodying the spirit of Impactful Diktisaintek, Udayana University provides concrete solutions to enhance the competency of teachers in Kuta Village, one of the target villages fostered by the Faculty of Humanities. Through the implementation of the Udayana Mengabdi Program, the English Literature Study Program organized a Workshop on the Preparation of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Based Textbooks for teachers at SMP Negeri 1 Kuta. The activity, which took place from June 29 to July 2, 2026, represents a tangible manifestation of the "Impactful Campus" transformation in supporting the independence and advancement of partner schools.

The workshop held at SMP Negeri 1 Kuta commenced with welcoming remarks from the Principal, I Ketut Lokasanti, S.Kom., M.Pd. He expressed his delight regarding Udayana University's sustained commitment. "The collaboration that has been established truly provides a direct and meaningful impact for our teachers. This is a real action by Udayana University in providing solutions to improve educators' competencies in the digital era," he stated.

The event was officially opened by the Head of the Education, Youth, and Sports Agency of Badung Regency, represented by the Functional Official (JF) for Technology Development, Agus Ariana Eka Putra, S.H. In his directive, he emphasized that tangible and impactful programs like this must continue to be nurtured and utilized optimally to foster innovation in schools. "This initiative is a prime example of cross-sectoral collaboration between higher education institutions and the community, specifically the teachers of SMP Negeri 1 Kuta. This workshop is highly relevant for equipping teachers to develop appropriate teaching materials, while simultaneously demonstrating the university's role in educational transformation at the grassroots level," he explained.

This activity was guided directly by the Head of the Community Service Team, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Mulyawan, S.S., M.Hum., alongside a team of lecturers and students. The program aims to improve teachers' digital literacy, particularly in utilizing AI to compile personalized textbooks aligned with their respective Lesson Plans (RPP), thereby supporting the school's independence in developing learning resources. The series of activities was comprehensively structured to ensure optimal and direct impacts.

The first day laid the academic foundation through the mastery of Zotero. The teachers were trained to manage references and citations digitally, thereby establishing a basis for academic rigor in their writing. The second day focused on innovative design, specifically drafting personalized book frameworks. With the assistance of platforms such as ChatGPT and Gemini, the teachers were guided to formulate systematic learning structures tailored to the RPP of their respective subjects. The third day was dedicated to core content development through innovative prompting techniques. The teachers actively practiced using generative AI to develop the narrative for each chapter, optimizing time and creative ideas without compromising the depth of the material. The fourth day centered on validating and refining the compiled textbook drafts. The teachers cross-checked references using Zotero and polished the linguistic quality using Grammarly and QuillBot, yielding academically valid and high-quality drafts.

With the high enthusiasm and eagerness to learn shown by all teachers, the workshop concluded with highly satisfactory achievements. This activity successfully produced 14 textbook drafts covering 11 core subjects: Indonesian Language, Hindu Religious Education, Pancasila Education, Mathematics, Natural Sciences (IPA), Social Sciences (IPS), English Language, Informatics, Arts and Culture, Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK), as well as Balinese Language.

The success of this workshop is expected to serve as a catalyst for digital transformation at SMP Negeri 1 Kuta, while simultaneously strengthening the synergy between the school and the university to continuously improve the quality of education in Badung Regency. Furthermore, this achievement not only solidifies Udayana University's commitment to implementing the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tridarma Perguruan Tinggi) but also serves as concrete proof that the spirit of Impactful Diktisaintek can be translated into genuinely transformative programs.
