LPK Zenith Explores Cooperation with FIB Unud to Strengthen Japanese Language Learning and Career Opportunities

On Wednesday, August 19, 2026, the Faculty of Humanities at Udayana University (FIB Unud) received a visit from LPK Zenith, represented by its Director, Dr. Catrini Pratihari K. The meeting addressed potential collaboration between LPK Zenith and FIB Unud, particularly regarding the development of Japanese language instructors, student internship programs, and opportunities for competency and career advancement in Japan. The delegation was welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Prof. I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., alongside the Head of the Information Management and Cooperation Unit (UPIKS) of FIB Unud, Dr. I Gusti Agung Istri Aryani, S.S., M.Hum. The meeting took place in a constructive atmosphere centered on exploring future collaborative opportunities.

During the meeting held in the Dean's Office, Dr. Catrini stated that LPK Zenith noticed a limited availability of Japanese language instructors in Bali. Conversely, there is strong potential for collaboration with universities offering Japanese language study programs and students interested in becoming educators. Based on these conditions, LPK Zenith proposed human resource development initiatives, including a Training of Trainers (TOT) program to prepare prospective Japanese language instructors. Furthermore, LPK Zenith highlighted professional opportunities for students and graduates in Japan. These opportunities are backed by LPK Zenith's new partnership with Japan Airlines, covering ground handling, cargo, and administration, with several positions requiring N2 and N3 Japanese language proficiency levels.

Responding to the proposal, Prof. Aryawibawa welcomed the offered potential collaboration, stressing the importance of ensuring that every developed activity aligns with FIB Unud's academic mission and curriculum. He explained that when expanding partnerships with Japanese institutions, FIB Unud must carefully position the program so that the university maintains its role as a higher education institution focused on academic growth, rather than being perceived as a vocational agency for job placement. Therefore, collaborative opportunities should be structured through academic frameworks such as student mobility, internships, or other relevant experiential learning methods tailored to the study programs.

Prof. Aryawibawa also noted that the TOT program holds significant potential, especially for students interested in becoming Japanese language teachers or lecturers. Students choosing this path could receive specialized training to build their competencies. Beyond education, career development pathways could also extend to administration, government, and other professional sectors suited to the graduate profiles of each study program. He added that internship opportunities could be expanded beyond Japanese Literature students to include students from other majors possessing relevant skills, while ensuring the internship activities align with the core curriculum and competencies of each study program.

From an institutional perspective, the Head of UPIKS at FIB Unud, Dr. I Gusti Agung Istri Aryani, S.S., M.Hum., explained that internships under the Kampus Berdampak framework can be converted into academic semester credits, with students potentially earning up to 20 credit units (SKS) for qualifying activities. She stated that collaborations involving student activities must be supported by an appropriate institutional framework, such as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and/or a Cooperation Agreement (PKS), depending on the scope and level of the partnership. The implementation must also include clear activities and deliverables, such as student reports, books, articles, or other agreed-upon outputs. With this framework in place, joint activities can be adapted to student needs and existing academic regulations at FIB Unud.

The meeting served as an initial step in exploring potential collaboration between FIB Unud and LPK Zenith. A wide array of opportunities ranging from developing Japanese language instructors through the TOT program to internships and student competency development formed the core of discussions for further development. FIB Unud and LPK Zenith will subsequently evaluate the most suitable program formats matching both parties' needs and institutional guidelines before deciding on the final collaborative framework.
