Denpasar, April 16, 2026 - The Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University received a visit from the Europe and America Higher Education Exchange & Study Abroad Platform (EA Exchange), based in Canada and the People's Republic of China. It was conducted in the Dean's Office, on the first floor of Ida Bagus Mantra Building. It was attended by Rossi Chu as the President of International Affairs EA Exchange, Charter Chen as the Vice President of International Affairs EA Exchange, Prof. I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A. Ph.D. as the Dean of Faculty of Humanities, accompanied with Dr. I Gede Oeinada, S.S., M.Hum. as Vice Dean I Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Ni Putu Senja Pratiwi S.S, M.Hum, PhD. as the Coordinator of Internasional Office Udayana University, and Dr. I Gusti Agung Istri Aryani, S.S., M.Hum. as the Coordinator of the Unit of Information Service and Cooperation Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University and Drs. I Ketut Tika, M.A. This strategic visit discussed potential collaborations in sending international students from North America, Europe, and Australia to study for one semester at Udayana University.
During the meeting, Rossie Chu and Carter Chen, as representatives of EA Exchange, presented their plan to facilitate foreign students participating in a one-semester exchange program in Bali. These students are targeted to take approximately five courses, where the academic credits can later be transferred back to their home universities in Europe, North America, or Australia. This collaborative initiative is driven by Bali's appeal, which not only excels in the tourism sector but is also capable of providing a conducive academic environment for foreign students. Furthermore, the high annual tuition fees at North American universities, which can reach up to 80,000 USD, make the exchange program to Asia a much more affordable study alternative while still providing valuable international experience.
Responding to the plan and offer, Prof. I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., as the Dean of Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University proposed a more innovative and efficient collaboration scheme through the Cultural Immersion Program. This flagship program has been specifically designed by Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University and possesses international accreditation standards. Instead of designing a new curriculum from scratch, this one-semester program is considered highly ready to accommodate foreign students to dive into Balinese culture comprehensively through outdoor classes. Students will be invited to conduct direct observations in various culturally rich locations, such as the agrarian area of Jatiluwih, as well as to learn local sign language in the field.
Furthermore, to ensure the smooth execution of the outdoor classes, both parties agreed to formulate a transparent and integrated financing scheme, covering basic academic tuition to field operational costs. In addition, safety standards and legal protection for international students are also a priority. EA Exchange ensures that every participating student is required to have international insurance and will sign a liability waiver to guarantee that the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University is free from claims regarding incidents outside of academic activities.
The Faculty of Humanities and International Office of Udayana University will immediately formulate the formal legal documents. The draft of the MoU and MoA will be processed comprehensively at the university level to realize the influx of international students to the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University in the future. It is hoped that this collaborative exploration can expand the reach of internationalization and strengthen its position as an internationally accredited hub for cultural studies.
