The Bachelor of Indonesian Literature Held a Literary Week Closing Ceremony to Commemorate the Literary Figure Chairil Anwar
On Friday,May 1, 2026 — The Bachelor of Indonesian Literature program, Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University held the closing ceremony for Literature Week Event 2026 May 1, 2026 at the Widya Sabha Mandala Auditorium, Faculty of Humanities. This event served as the culmination of the entire series of events that had taken place previously. Literature Week is one of the regular annual activities organized by the Bachelor of Indonesian Literature, so the entire Indonesian Literature community participated enthusiastically in this event. The 2026 Literature Week Event with the theme of Literature, Criticism, and Politics was held to commemorate the passing of one of Indonesia’s greatest writers, Chairil Anwar. Through this event, the organizing committee aims to revive the public’s spirit of creativity and critical thinking in the world of literature.

Committee, reported that the series of Literature Week events that have been
held included an online National Webinar, a Poetry Reading Competition, a
Literary Criticism Competition, and a Grand Finale to conclude the entire
program. The Chairman of the Indonesian Literary Association, Desak Gde Agung
Tia Prameswari, also expressed her appreciation for the hard work of all the
committee members who had prepared the event over a long period of time.
In the opening remarks, the Coordinator of the Indonesian Literature Program, Dr. I Gusti Ayu Agung Mas Triadnyani, S.S., M.Hum., emphasized that the program offers full support for this student activity, including through the allocation of funds. She also expressed her appreciation and gratitude to all participants, speakers, judges, the organizing committee, and everyone who contributed to the success of the event. The highlight of the event also featured a sharing session with the judges of the poetry reading and literary criticism competitions, who provided feedback and insights to the participants. The event continued with creative performances by students from various graduating classes showcasing various forms of literary art, such as: monologues, plays, and singing. As the climax, the winners of the 2026 Literary Week competition were announced and awarded.
This moment served as a form of appreciation for participants from all walks of life who had participated and demonstrated their creativity in the field of literature. Meanwhile, the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Ni Ketut Puji Astiti Laksmi, S.S., M.Si., stated that organizing the Literature Week is an appropriate and relevant step for the Indonesian Literature Program. She also encouraged the contest participants not to be discouraged if they did not win, as the courage to participate and try is already an achievement worthy of appreciation.
Through this event, the 2026 Literature Week will not only serve as a competition but also as a shared space for the public to discover, appreciate, and develop Indonesian literature. It is hoped that the spirit passed down by Chairil Anwar will continue to thrive and inspire today’s generation to create and think critically.
