The Bachelor of Japanese Literature Study Program, Faculty of Humanities Becomes Host for Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) July 2025
On Sunday, July 6, 2025, the Japanese Language Proficiency Test or better known as JLPT was held. JLPT is the standard certification of Japanese language competency worldwide. JLPT is generally used to evaluate and validate Japanese language skills of non-native Japanese speakers. The skills tested consist of four skills, such as Grammar, Vocabulary, Listening, and Text Reading. Participants in this year's JLPT numbered 846 people with various motivations as a background. However, in general, the motivation of the participants was to obtain a certificate in meeting the requirements to work and/or study in Japan.
Every year, Udayana University is trusted by The Japan Foundation Jakarta as the organizer for the Denpasar Test Site. The routine test is held every December. Meanwhile, 2025 is the first year that JLPT is held in July. JLPT participants can be declared to have passed if they take all the test sessions and have a total final score that is at or above the “Passing Threshold Score” and all scores in each test session are at or above the “Each Session Threshold Score.” The score provisions for each session at JLPT levels N1-N3 and N4-N5 are different and the provisions regarding the “Passing Threshold Score” and “Each Session Threshold Score” are also different.
The Head of the JLPT 2025 Activity Committee, Ngurah Indra Pradhana, said that there were differences between the previous JLPT activities and this year. This year, the JLPT activity for the first time also collaborated with lecturers and students from Mahasaraswati University, Denpasar. It is hoped that through this activity, the cooperation between the two institutions can be strengthened. In addition, in the future, it is also hoped that the JLPT can fulfill the wishes of the community, by being held not only once a year but twice a year, especially at the Denpasar test location, which is organized by the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University (IndrAdjust).
