The BIPA Unit of the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University, Held a Placement Test and Orientation Day for New Students for the Period of September-December 2025
The BIPA Unit of the Faculty of Humanities (FIB) of Udayana University officially held a Placement Test and Orientation Day for new students of the September-December 2025 period. This activity was carried out as an initial step to assess the Indonesian language skills of international students and to provide an introduction to the learning system they would be participating in. The activity took place over two days, Thursday, August 28, and Friday, August 29, 2025. The placement test was on the first day, Thursday, August 28, 2025. It was held in the BIPA Room on the third floor of the Ida Bagus Mantra Building, Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University. The placement test was divided into two sessions: one covering reading and one covering writing skills. An interview was then conducted to assess students' speaking skills.
On Friday, August 29, 2025, the series of activities continued with an orientation session. This orientation session was opened by Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Suparwa, M.Hum., coordinator of the BIPA Unit of FIB Unud. He opened the orientation with a self-introduction session for both BIPA staff and new students. He then continued by giving a brief presentation about Udayana University and the Faculty of Humanities and introducing the types of BIPA learning materials at each level such as grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening, speaking, creative writing, Indonesian and cultural insight. The second speaker was Ni Kadek Devi Rahayu Padmayanti, S.S., M.Hum., the secretary of the BIPA Unit, Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University.
In her presentation, she explained study ethics, lecture procedures, and various support services that can help them adapt to their new environment. Finally, the activity concluded with the announcement of level placements and an invitation to tour the campus to see the location and facilities at FIB. The two-day activity was attended by 14 new students, predominantly from Japan, then Sweden, and Armenia. Through this activity, it is hoped that all new students will feel more prepared, comfortable, and motivated in undergoing the learning process. The presence of foreign students participating in this program is also expected to strengthen the role of BIPA as a bridge for cultural diplomacy through teaching Indonesian in the international arena (DP).
