The Faculty of Humanities Udayana Universitay welcomed Students of Kanto International Senior High School in the Cultural Visit Program

The Faculty of Humanities (FIB), Udayana University (Unud), held the opening ceremony for the Kanto International Senior High School Cultural Visit Program at the Widya Sabha Mandala Auditorium, FIB Unud, Denpasar, on Monday, August 3, 2025. This event was organized to officially welcome the three participating students, their chaperones, and the entire organizing committee.

During this cultural visit program, the students will have the opportunity to study Balinese and Indonesian culture firsthand while living alongside their respective host families. The Coordinator of the Indonesian Literature Study Program, Dr. I Gusti Ayu Agung Mas Triadnyani, S.S., M.Hum., stated that for the study program, this activity serves as a strategic effort to strengthen international cooperation while simultaneously introducing the archipelago's culture to foreign partners. She added that such cultural exchanges hold immense benefits, allowing friendship, mutual understanding, and respect to flourish between the youth of Japan and Indonesia. Through this event, it is hoped that the students can learn about Indonesia, directly experience its academic atmosphere, and enjoy its hospitality, rather than merely observing it through books or digital screens.

The event proceeded with remarks from the representative of Kanto International Senior High School, Yumiko Cecilia Horas. In her speech, she expressed her delight at successfully fulfilling her promise to bring students back through this program—a milestone made possible by the Dean's full support and the continuous collaboration with FIB Unud. Kanto International Senior High School is a private high school in Japan that has offered an Indonesian language major since 2007. Since its inception, this major has routinely organized field training programs in Indonesia, particularly in Bali, providing a platform for students to engage in activities both on and off-campus. One of the unique privileges of this program is that students can live with host families from SMA Santo Yoseph to get a closer look at the daily lives of the Indonesian people. She also expressed her gratitude to Unud and the families who have warmly welcomed the Japanese student delegation. The speech concluded with hopes that this harmonious relationship will endure and that the program will run smoothly.

The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Prof. I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., in his welcoming remarks, expressed his deep appreciation for the presence of the Kanto International delegation and their entire team. He emphasized that this program holds high significance, not only for the partner school but also for the Indonesian Literature Study Program at FIB Unud. Moreover, this study program has achieved international accreditation and is supported by highly qualified human resources. Collaboration in this Cultural Visit Program is believed to boost the study program's visibility while providing a positive impact on the students, as they will be guided directly by highly competent teaching staff. According to Prof. Aryawibawa, although Bali and Japan share similarities in their core values, there are still several fundamental differences that are fascinating to explore. At the end of his speech, he officially opened the program. The opening event was then concluded with an introductory session between the students and their respective host families, followed by a campus tour around FIB Unud.
