The event was opened by Dr. I Gede Oeinada, S.S., M.Hum. as Vice Dean I for Academic and Planning Affairs. He stated Faculty of Humanities Udayana University's commitment to ensure that students are not only equipped with academic abilities, but also have professionally recognized competencies. The event continued with a presentation by Dr. I Nyoman Nurcaya, S.E., M.M., as a guest speaker and Coordinator of the Faculty of Economic and Business Udayana University Bachelor of Management who explained that student competency certificates serve as proof and recognition of abilities relevant to the field of study and to minimize misconceptions between diploma grades and work experience. He emphasized that competency certification requires time, costs, and has an expiration date, so it cannot be applied instantly. Furthermore, he said that almost all graduates of the Faculty of Economic and Business Udayana University Bachelor of Management obtained competency certificates through various efforts, such as requiring competency certificates before applying for a thesis advisor or thesis defense, curriculum updates, the application of case-based methods and team-based projects, and collaboration with the Management Student Association to promote certification.
The event then continued with an interactive question and answer session, focusing on the efforts that could be made by each study program in designing and implementing competency schemes that were most relevant to the scientific characteristics of the Faculty of Humanities surroundings. This discussion was crucial given the diversity of study program focuses, ranging from linguistics, translation, history, anthropology, to regional literature, thus requiring an appropriate approach so that competency certification can specifically address academic and professional needs.
The Head of the Udayana University’s Professional Certification Agency, Dr. Dra. Putu Saroyini Piartrini, M.M., Ak., emphasized its commitment to continue collaborating with various parties in supporting and facilitating the certification process for graduates from Faculty of Humanities Udayana University and other faculties, especially for graduates with specific scientific concentrations. This collaboration is expected to produce certification schemes that are relevant, adaptive, and aligned with the needs of the world of work and the characteristics of each field of study.
