The Student Association of the Indonesian Literature Study Program Held the Annual Work Program “Language Month 2024”

The Student Association of the Indonesian Literature Study Program, Faculty of Humanitied, Udayana University held an annual work program “Language Month 2024”. This work program is also a commemoration of the inauguration of Indonesian as a national language which falls on October 28, 2024.



This year's Language Month carries the theme “Bunga, Bahasa, Mekarkan Sastra” which also aims to provide a forum for potential development in the fields of language and literature. The 2024 Language Month activities come in a variety of interesting activities, which begin with a talk show, then an exhibition of works, and end with a film talk and culmination of the event. This activity took place from October 21, 2024 to the peak day on October 28, 2024.



On Monday, October 21, 2024, the first agenda was held as well as the opening of the “Language Month 2024” activity and Gelar Wicara. This series of events was held at the Widyasabha Mandala Auditorium, FIB Denpasar.


Gelar Wicara began with a speech by the Vice Dean 3, Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University Dr. Ni Ketut Puji Astiti Laksmi, SS, M.Si., who in her speech expressed her appreciation to all parties who contributed in preparing this event and she also added that FIB Unud fully supports this activity, especially since the concept and theme presented by this activity are also in line with the principles and objectives of FIB Unud.


After delivering remarks, the activity continued with the opening, which was marked by the beating of the gong by the Vice Dean 3, Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University Dr. Ni Ketut Puji Astiti Laksmi, SS, M.Si.


Gelar Wicara Bulan Bahasa 2024 then continued with the delivery of material on the topic “Prokem Language: As Progress or Threat to Indonesian Language Identity?” guided by moderator I Putu Ari Putra Maulana, S.S., M.A., who is a lecturer in the Indonesian Literature Study Program at Udayana University. Also present were 2 speakers who were very familiar with the topic at hand. Speaker 1, Prof. Dr. Dra. Ni Made Dhanawaty, M.S., a lecturer in the Indonesian Literature Study Program at Udayana University and also I Nyoman Sutrisna, S.S., M.Hum., who is the Bali Province Language Ambassador coach.


The presentation of the material took place with discussions on topics that are relevant to the present, making the discussion session not only take place between the moderator and the speaker, but the participants who were dominated by students also participated directly in this session. The Language Month talk show ended with the awarding of prizes to the speakers and a group photo session.
